WHY PKR LEADERS ALWAYS VISIT SARAWAK?

The statement by PBB Deputy President Dato Sri Abg Johari Tun Openg that opposition figures coming to Sarawak to investigate locals against the BN government ang leadership is rather mischievous or the least undemocratic. The regular visits of PKR leaders from Semenanjung ang Sabah to Sarawak are proof that they care about the welfare of the people of Sarawak.
This is olso a clear message that, should Pakatan Rakyat come to power, hopefully in the not too distant future, their leaders would take greater concern about Sarawak thanthat shown by BN leaders from outside Sarawak. The fact that non-SarawakBN leaders care less for Sarawak has been manifested by their indifferent attitude towards the state.
PKR being the truly national party in character and in practice will make sure that its leaders will give fair and equal attention to all the states in Malaysia. In contrast it has been seen in the past that UMNO and other BN component from outside Sarawak have been unfair in attending to the development needs of Sarawak apparently due to the fact they have no political interest here and so the indifference.
There is nothing wrong about PKR leaders raising the issues involving the shortcomings of the BN government. It is wrong for us to remind the people of Sarawak about the danger of corruption and abuse of power involving hundreds of thousands of hectares of Sarawak forest concession, land and monopoly of business opportunities by people in power. All these have lead to failure in the DEB particularly in regards its objective to help Bumiputras to have fair a share of the economic cake and the eradication of poverty.
The issues of unrealistically high oil price and the drastic reduction in oil subsidies are matters of public interest which have had adverse effects in the lives of the people. What is so wrong about our criticism of the government's mishandling of the issues? Is it not right for us to tell the people of Sarawak that, given the opportunity to form a new government at the Faderal level, we will be abble to bring down the oil price, increase the oil royalty from the present 5% to 20%? These are something the BN government is incapable of doing. Telling the people of Sarawak of the better things we are committed to do are by no means instigating them to go against the BN leadership. Politics is all about placing the interest of the rakyat well above that of political leaders.
Furthermore, Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Sarawak is not a mere election party. Rest assure that the visits of our national leaders to Sarawak will be intensified whether there is election or not. Through these visits the party is now getting wider acceptance by people as evidenced by our ability to penetrate the rural areas of the state. This is what is worrying the BN leaders.
