SHAH ALAM: Civil servants in the Selangor government will receive RM500 gift in conjunction with Hari Raya celebrations next month. Selangor became the second Pakatan Rakyat-administrated state in the country to offer Hari Raya bonuses to their state staff
Early last week, Penang declared that it would pay out RM1.5 million in festive bonus to its 3,577 staff. Each will receive RM400.
Speaking to reporters, Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said the 9,089 state employees , except officers on the JUSA (top management group) grade and above, will benefit from this gesture.
He said the disbursements will be issued before the celebrations.
‘We’re setting aside RM4.5 million for this exercise. The state has also made an additional RM1.3 million allocation for special disbursement to religious teachers.
“All religious teachers under Selangor will receive RM250 each to help with Hari Raya expenses,” said Khalid.
He also advised all Selangor staff and teachers to be prudent with their festive expenses and not over-extend themselves into debts.
Meanwhile, civil servants in Umno-Barisan Nasional-run states are also waiting.
They are hoping that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak will also announce a special bonus for the 1.4 million-strong civil service.
A festive bonus would be a great way to show that Najib cares and that 1Malaysia truly puts “people first”.- FMT
